Hi Everyone!! My employer has officially given me one year to earn my degee or I will be demoted. I knew that this was coming, but it wasn't official until Friday and now I am worried. I have 23 credits from AIU and I did a lot of reading on the FEMA credits. I think that COSC has the lowest cost and I really need that, because I have to pay out of pocket. I read that I don't need to be enrolled before taking the FEMA courses, so I am wondering how many FEMA credits can I obtain towards a Bachelors degree at COSC and are there certain FEMA courses that I should take to apply to a Bachelors in Business? Also, can you tell me what is the best route to complete the degree at COSC quickly? I'm also looking into ACE credits. Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas as to how I should get this completed? I started strong earlier this year, but I was working on my SPHR certification which I obtained, but I took a break until I got the official news. I really need to get this completed. Please help. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you!
Hi. Welcome to Degree Info. Here's why your posts are delayed in showing up: http://www.degreeinfo.com/general-distance-learning-discussions/35100-new-users-ask-where-did-my-posts-go.html
You should make your way to our Testing forum and start reading. It's all there. CLEP, DANTES, and Other Exams for Credit
I think that I just need a little help with creating a plan to start completing the required testing. Any guidance? I don't want to invest in the wrong courses.
In regards to FEMA credits, Im pretty sure whatever school you go to they will only count as free electives. What I did was complete all the FEMAs that I could. I then opened up a credit bank at Thomas Edison State College(TESC) which cost about $469, I had FEMA send a transcript to TESC and they gave me credit for all of them. Another idea I had recently I dont know if it would be cheaper but have the FEMAs/Clep/DSST/NFA credit transcripts sent to TESC and have them do an Evaluation, again idk if its cheaper but I remember FCC transcription cost of roughly $60 per fema. That gets expensive fast. There is about 25-30 FEMAs that TESC will turn into credit, plugging those into a degree plan just means how many free electives does your major require. Iam obviously speaking in favor of TESC, in the past people have had complaints about poor communication or "customer service" from them, in the past year of dealing with them only being a credit bank "student" I have received nothing but good help.
You'll be fine, you still have plenty of times. Some people can earn a legit Bachelor degree in 4 weeks...you have up to 52 weeks. I earned my Bachelor degree in 104 weeks with zero credits, and had no direction until joined this Forum in January 2004.
If you do not have the gen ed courses required, start to knock some of them out through CLEP. It is cheap and quick. Go for some of the 6 credit test like Humanities, English, Social Sciences if you do not already have those credits.
Not Honorable Dr. Randell, Humble Dr. Randell. I think Mr. Lawrie Miller is the only one beat you in this case.
+1 Also don't forget the CLEP "Analyzing and Interpreting Literature", which is good for 6 credits, and will probably be accepted by most DL programs.
Well, make sure the school you're applying accept "Analyzing and Interpreting Literature," because some schools do not award credits for it. I remembered some of the school include Troy University did not, or at least when I worked on my undergraduate degree.
You didn't already ask this question at the start of summer over at IC forum? Pretty sure you got pages and pages and pages of help over there.
Just a thought! These kind of statements let the general public believe that these schools are RA diploma mills. The fact is, that it took your lifetime up to that point to accumulate all the knowledge necessary to challenge the coursework and receive college credit. There is nothing wrong with getting college credit for what you already know even if you had to brush up and cram a few days for the test or get your credentials reviewed by ACE!
Becasue I am a lazy worm! Honestly, I was in the Reserves at the time so the exams were free = no risk. That is way I was able to knock out 45 credits in a month. It is easy when it does not cost you anything.
Can you please give me some guidance? How were you able to do it? What's the best route for me? Can I get a PM? I'm just getting started on the FEMA.
