    Hello fellow LD students:

I found it amazing that there was a Harvard extention program available. I know that it is still a residency program but what are the chances of them offerring anything long distance in the future?

I also was interested to see a USC LD program, albeit one I am not interested in. Same question about USC.

I am at Kansas State in the on line Masters in Financial planning program and I must say that at 44 years of age, with a wife, child and busy schedule LD is the best thing that ever happened to education. I also have a keen interest in Military history. I know that AMU is a frequent topic on these boards. Any NEW info on them? I am planning on starting their Land Warfare Masters program in the next couple of months. Since this is purely for my interests alone RA is not a requirement but I would like it since all my education has been RA and ABA .

    Comements?

AMU states in their FAQ page that they have applied for RA, but had to change some things to satisfy SACS. IMO, SACS is one of the more tight-assed RA agencies, and AMU probably would have achieved RA already if they were based in a more DL-friendly area of the country.

I would be willing to bet that AMU achieves RA sometime in the near future.

  3. Harvard Extension has been much discussed in this forum. Do a search! For a listing of current distance education offerings see:

By USC, I presume you mean U. Southern California (as opposed to Southern Colorado or South Carolina). Last time I checked, U. Southern California distance programs were only available to employees of affiliated companies (at least this was the case for computer science).

Thabnk you for the replies. I will look up the Harvard thread. It would be incredible to earn ANYTHING from Harvard on line.

Yes, USC is the University of Southern California. They have some sort of Gerontology DL program which is a bit strange if you ask me but it's a start.

You may be interested in SHSU. They have a MA in Military History available by DL. Take a look.

Rafael, we sound like twins separated at birth.
    :)

I have an avid interest in military history as well. I am giving consideration to the Sam Houston State University program that Lee Kay mentioned. The program is available with or without a thesis, and each course concentrates on a specific conflict or period. I like the looks of the program overall. The cost would be around $7,000 total.

I am in the insurance business. I have considered pursuing the CFP designation, along with other educational options, and I've looked at the KSU Master's degree in financial planning. What do you think of the program so far?

    Thanks,

    Tony,

I think that it is a wonderful program. The instructors are helpful and available to answer all questions that come up. I don't find the course material extremely difficult but perhaps that is because of my 19 years experience in the investment field.

There are weekly chat rooms and the message boards are very easy to use and thought provoking. I , like many other life long students enjoy the thrill of actually receiving a degree in several subjects and I liked the idea of obtaining another one from a nationally recognized school.

Thanks for the info on Sam Houston. I will take a look at it. AMU has a great selection of courses, lets see how they compare.

Lets stay in touch, good luck.
