Called my local CLEP testing center. Next available appointment is in JUNE! Unfortunately, there are few choices for testing in this area, as almost all the centers, including the two down the street, only test for their registered students. Any idea from those in southern California on some local and underutilized CLEP centers that I can get into with only a week or so notice? I am calling around but some tips on where to call would be great. I'm more than willing to jump in the car and take off to southern California for a few days and do some testing and surfing. Clep test centers Christian, I have had similar problems here in new england (I did find a clep center that was running tests daily). I think it has something to do w/ the transition to CBT CLEPS. Alot of the colleges are still in the process of changing over? Being in southern Cali. I can't imagine there being NO test centers that will have a sooner appointment date then June! Have you tried a military base? I know they have DANTES, and they also could have CLEP tests there as well? I guess if your not in the military it might be hard getting in. You might be able to get a day pass if you explain to them that you have an appointment for a CLEP test at Base Education? Sorry if I haven't been any help. Take care, Bill
Ignore this message if you've already looked into the option.. but I believe ETS (*the* ETS) still has a testing office in the East Bay (Oakland? San Mateo?) I have to suspect that their "turnover" time will be less than the local schools. This is the "double edge" of the move to computer-based testing.

When I needed my last CLEP for graduation, I called TESC (which, in addition to being my alma mater, is ten minutes from my office.) That was in early October. And they were more than happy to accomodate me with a January test date. Thanks, guys, but no thanks. I went to one of the local community colleges, which offers testing on Mondays and Wednesdays.. also booked up through December, but when I explained the urgency (scores needed to be reported before then for January graduation) I got a smile and and a Tuesday appointment the following for week. I went the community college route, gambling on smaller=less rigid, and hoping that a live student would be harder to turn down than a disembodied voice on the phone. Your results may vary. Practice smiling before you go.
