Pretty pretty Please help!!! APA question

Please help me!!! I have a paper due in about 3 hours and I have racked my brain and my resources trying to figure out how to answer this APA question...

I am writing a paper and the source I am trying to cite is a chapter out of a book that was written by my instructor however the book (Forensic Mental Health) has authors but his chapter has a separate title and lists him as the author.

My question is do I cite using his name or do I cite using the authors of the whole book?

I am leaning toward the whole book...but I honestly have never came across his situation and I am lost!!! Or maybe I should cite his article but list the book at the source if that makes sense....please help!!!

Randell--- Yep that was the first place I looked!! All I can find is how to cite a book in general but nothing on how to cite chapters in a book that where each written by a different author......

Try this:

Eliot, T. S. (2001). Tradition and the individual talent. In V. B. Leitch (Ed.), The Norton anthology of theory and criticism (pp. 1092-1097). New York, NY: W. W. Norton. (Original work published 1920)
Note that the page numbers of an article or chapter are preceded by "pp." when citing it (for example, "pp. 25-50"). In cases where an article/chapter occupies a single page, the page is preceded by "p." (ex. "p. 4").
If an article has been reprinted from a source published earlier, give the original date of publication in the "original work" element of the citation as shown above (when using this element, the final period in a citation is omitted).

So that is exactly how I am going to do it!

 

I'd suggest getting an APA manual. I believe it is covered in there as well.

 

You would cite it as an edited text where the instructor would be both the Editor and the author of that particular chapter.

 

Late to the party but...

If you are in grad school, you should have a copy of the appropriate publication manual for your discipline, (APA, MLA, Chicago, etc.) It is worth the investment.
