I stumbled onto this school. Does anyone know much about them? They appear to be regionally accredited. Any graduates on the board?

At one time it was a small liberal arts college, all female I think. I have a friend who graduated from Sullivan back in the 70s. It was your typical little liberal arts college. It struggled to survive by adding evening and extended programs, eventually renaming itself "university" and going into online education. I can't speak to it's quality, but if you're wondering whether it's fly-by-night, no. It's been around a long time.

It is a good school and Dr Pina is a faculty member. I have also taught a class there so you know they must be world class :deal:

Seriously, I can tell you from an inside view that the school is awesome.

Still kicking around the idea of a Ph.D. After I finish the D.Min. Something along the lines of leadership, conflict management, etc.

Anti-Shill Disclosure: I am an administrator at Sullivan University.

Sullivan University is a 50 year-old brick & mortar institution that has evolved from a 2-year business college into a regionally accredited doctoral-granting university, offering both a first professional doctorate (Doctor of Pharmacy) and a research doctorate (Ph.D. in Management, with concentrations in strategic management, conflict management, I.T. management and will soon begin a concentration in human resource leadership). The main campus is in Louisville, Kentucky, with branch campuses in Lexington and Ft. Knox and an online campus/division, of which I am the Academic Dean (I also teach in the Ph.D. program). Over two dozen of the university's degree programs (from associate to doctorate) are available online or hybrid. At 6,000 students, Sullivan is Kentucky's largest private university.

I will be happy to answer any questions about Sullivan and, as those who are regulars on Degreeinfo can attest, I do not shill for Sullivan and do not hesitate to endorse other great universities.

    Randell,

I thought that you were on the roster to teach this quarter. Everyone had great things to say about you. Let's chat offline about some courses for our upcoming MBA marketing concentration.

Sullivan has both. There are only four doctoral programs in conflict management in the country (and only two that offer courses online: Nova Southeastern and Sullivan). Sullivan's Ph.D. is designed for those who have five or more years of management/leadership/supervisor experience.

Thank you so much Sir. I have years of both military and ministry leadership. I would expect to meet that requirement. It is a full program. Are any transfer credits allowed for similar doctoral coursework? Are there ant residency requirements for the P.D. With a conflict resolution emphasis?

Both military and ministry leadership would count. Yes, the program accepts transfer credit for applicable course work. It is possible to transfer over 1/4 of the total units into the program.

Each year, in the fall, there is an annual weekend (Fri-Sun) Ph.D. residency/conference at a local resort. The Residency Conference coincides with our annual faculty retreat, so part of the time, the Ph.D. students have activities with all of the Sullivan faculty and the rest of the time it consists of Ph.D.-specific workshops and seminars on research, working with dissertation committees, publishing in journals and presenting at conferences, teaching methods and techniques, etc. The Ph.D. is designed to be completed in approximately three years and students are asked to attend two of the residency conferences during that time.

I am in Sullivan University PhD program. I just finished my first semester, and I am truly happy with the instructors, the University and the course work. The course work is very challenging. However, I would not expect anything less for a PhD course.

This is my first online program, and I felt, as if it was a classroom environment. If you have any other questions, from a student perspective, please let me know.

    Congratulations on your admission!

How many graduate courses were transferred into the program?

Thanks so much. What kind of time investment do you make weekly? I know it varies, but on average? I often study after family goes to Ned for 2-3 hours at least a few nights a week, is that something like enough hours (I know this is not exact, we all study at different paces etc.) for this program in your estimation?

I'm curious; is it challenging because it is difficult to understand or is it challenging because there is a lot of work, or both? I know you have not taken online classes before so I'm curious to compare it with the doctoral program I am in and also the doctoral program I previously dropped out of at a different school. What has been the typical weekly workload?

I know Sullivan is a great school, so I'm a little nosy about it. Thanks.
