    Hey there!

I am about to finish my degree in Broadcast News Journalism at Humboldt State University. I am looking to see if I can transfer some of my Journalism credit and take CLEP/DSSTs in business to either obtain a BA in Broadcast Business Management or an MBA in a related field.

A quick search did not reveal an online bachelor's or graduate degrees specifically in broadcasting. How about a bachelor's in communication? Here's a cool looking program at Drexel: Communications Degree Online - Drexel Bachelor's Degrees This is from a ranked school. #86 US News rankings. Not bad.

Excelsior College has a few you could look at too: http://www.excelsior.edu/ecapps/degreeProgram/degreeTable.jsf

As far as transferring credit goes, as long as the credits have not been used to attain another degree, they should be eligible for evaluation. Acceptance of your credits will vary by school. I'm pretty sure that Excelsior College would be one of the schools that would likely be most amenable to accepting transfer credits. They also offer MBA's, but you would have to decide if any of the programs would work for you: Excelsior College | Program Details

The University of Southern California and the University of Pennsylvania both offer very highly regarded degrees in media management through their respective Annenberg Schools of Communication, but sorry, they're not via distance education. Harvard does offer a program in journalism through its Extension School liberal arts umbrella (partly distance).

Honestly, I would suggest focusing on your career. Use your degree to get a job in the field.

Media is one area where experience/portfolio/contacts tend to trump any degree. It's good to have a related degree but in no way a must.

Absolutely correct. I have done a fair amount of professional guitar work over my career and it's the same situation; people are more interested in what you can do than they are in your degree.

Just for the record: Columbia Business School has a strong Media emphasis.
    Media : Media Program
    Media Management Association
Got to look through their MBA programs. I bet you can somehow put an emphasis on that area plus with that orientation you most likely will end up on one of the coasts anyway. But of cause there is a "little" money issue involved...
