Anyone get their sociology degree online from Columbia College in Missouri? The curriculum looks solid and the price is right. The only thing that concerns me is the number of required texts for some courses. The Sociology and Religion course had something like sixteen recommended texts. That would be expensive. I hope because they are listed as recommended in reality the course would require less.

Any feedback about the college and sociology major is appreciated.

The school is fine but the number of texts in a class does seem a little off. Could they possibly be something smaller than full textbooks? Would you check into that more and then let us know; I'm curious.

You can get most of your textbooks for next to nothing if you follow this method: First, set up a seller account on Amazon. Next, buy your books used online or at a local used bookstore. The trick is to buy your books as cheaply as possible and you can usually find a pretty good deal on eBay, Amazon or some of the used textbook websites. Shop around and you can often find a steal. Keep close watch on which edition you are buying. If you buy right, you can then sell your textbooks on Amazon for near what you paid for them. By doing this, the most I've been out of pocket for any textbook has been $18 and I have actually made a couple bucks on one or two. My average cost is probably about $8 per book. This all takes a little more effort than the traditional way to get textbooks, but you can save thousands of dollars over the period of an entire degree program.

I agree with SurfDoctor. I've been selling my old textbooks on Amazon since 2002 and always get good money for my books. I've bought a few books locally and turn a $15-$30 profit.

Now I'm at Liberty and they give me a $100 book voucher per class. :thinkerg:

I contacted the school. The master syllabus is just an idea of what the course entails, so there will be less text books required.

SurfDoctor - Thanks. I'll definitely try out your method.
