Using courses taken at AMU to meet transfer requirements for CSU schools

Prior to me entering the military, I did about a year and a half worths of coursework at a junior college in my hometown. Some courses I didnt due too well at (mostly because I was disillusioned with school at the time) but most others I did reasonably well in. I'm now enrolling in AMU to get some school done in the meantime before I separate from the military.

After I separate, I intend on applying to some California State University schools (I'm a California resident) in order to complete mu BA in Chinese, then afterward go into grad school for the same thing.

My question is: Is it likely/possible to use whatever coursework that I complete with AMU and my prior schooling to meet transfer requirements to be accepted into one of the CSU schools?

  2. Real answer is..."You should contact the school's registrar to determine what/how credits transfer."

Short answer...I took a few classes at AMU and transferred them into TESC, so I think it's possible. The classes I took where general education classes though.

CSU will determine which types and which specific courses will transfer. The fact that the credits are coming from AMU shouldn't be an issue, however, as AMU (APUS) is regionally accredited.

Sometimes R/A credit cannot transfer to another R/A institution. Many people are not aware of this dirty little secret, and are under the impression as long as the accreditation match up, their golden. Best advise, call the school you intend to transfer too and see what they have to say. WASC is notorious for being a fickle beast. . . (In a Christopher Walken voice, lol.)

You all make good points. I've tried contacting several schools that I'm interested in attending via email and by phone and have never been contacted back. Lol. I really only intend on using AMU for GE requirements, as my major (Chinese) really isn't available in a DL setting. I don't think having language taught via distance learning is the most effective way anyway.
