I am interested in taking 4 accounting courses at Penn Foster, to use as transfer credits for a DL or RA school. The courses are Intermediate 1 & 11, Cost Accounting, and Computer Applications in Accounting.

Can I take individual courses at Penn Foster? Also, has anyone taken the accounting courses? What is course structure and are the courses diffucult? I plan completing each course in 4-6 weeks, if this is reasonable. Also, I am concerned that taking 4 courses will result in taking final exams when courses are completed. I was reading negative comments about taking multiple final exams on the same day, and not having enough time to complete each exam.

    Thank-You.

I have taken Intermediate Accounting I, it is not easy. 1 hour and 15 mins to complete the exam is not enough. I also had issues with the 4 tests, in my opinion there were some questions that had the incorrect answers but the instructor at PF did not want to accept it, even if I had consulted with accounting teachers from other school. So I was very disappointed.

I always target for an A and i got a B in this class. If you want a B just take it easy is not going to be a big deal but if you want an A in this class it will be pretty hard.

I suggest you take as many notes as you can for the proctored exam and solve a lot of practice problems from the textbook publisher website so you can reduce the timing for the final. In my version of the test there was a very long problem that was worth 20 points that gave me a lot of headaches. Excelsior accepted it as upper level business credit that is the good part of it :)

What are your career goals? Do you plan on taking the CPA exam at some point? If so, you might want to take those accounting classes through a school with RA accreditation. Sure, they might transfer to an RA school but to take the CPA exam you have to send original transcripts directly to your state's accounting board. Most likely, Penn Foster accounting classes won't be sufficient for the CPA exam.

You might want to consider taking a look at Peru State College. The school is RA accredited and VERY affordable.
