COU is registered and established in the British Virgin Islands in
accordance with the IBC act. We do not need authorization to grant degrees from any educational authority, but we can not deal with residents in the BVI.

As I informed you earlier, Commonwealth Open University is an international educational institution. COU is a full member of the British Association for Open Learning, which is today recognized as the major force for development and use of good practice in its field. Our institution is not a member of any private or governmental accrediting agency. Our educational standards,
our courses, and their awards are generally accepted as valid qualifications by many other establishments throughout the world. Our degree programs have been designed, developed, and adapted to be undertaken by distance learning and for people who are not full-time students.

Obviously, we cannot guarantee that a COU degree will be accepted. In relation to the credit transfer to other universities, it all depends on where you want to go. Some traditional colleges still take a dim view of distance education. Be aware to contact any other institutions where you try to enter about the acceptance of our degrees.

    Yours sincerely,

    Mary L. Rua

COU: "We are registered in the BVI, but we can not deal with residents in the BVI"

And I have just opened my grocery store here in the town of Piffleton. Under my business license, I am not allowed to sell groceries to people who live in Piffleton.

    What's wrong with this picture?
