want to know if there exists any alternative education online and distance for MD or RN (certification) or EMT-Basics cert...I know of the IUHS School on St. Kitts but they are a tad more particular then I'd like and the distance ed thing is sporadic...I have done what could be classified as an "exhaustive search" but I surerly have not turned over everything possible...please come back with detailed information regarding these three (3) areas of health education...thanks, imperoo

Speaking as a current medical malpractice consultant who does a lot of risk management education, I can assure you that there is abundant online medical CME available. Merely type the phrase 'medical CME' into Google, and you will find hundreds of sites.

Speaking as both a current consultant and a former paramedic, the obvious problem with distance clinical education is the lack of hands on clinical training in procedures or techniques. So while you can do clinical refreshers via online CME, you cannot practice your intubation techniques that way. So many states/licensing boards/specialty academies still require live face to face CME with a practice component.
