    great find

Looks fantastic. So I talk to someone on the phone for 20 - 30 minutes, and can receive ACE 8 LD + 4 UD units? What cost is this?

    Its like $138 I think.

mcjon77 was the one who posted the info about the test in spainish. I'm just twisting that to see if some quick credits could be earned.

Wife used this to get some humanities elective credit at EC - so it's possible.

Did they show on her transcript as foreign language or as English credits? Assuming she took the English assessment.

In all likelihood, receiving credit for English as a foreign language is reserved for those who speak English as a second language (English is not their native tongue). Just my guess.

I agree with you in practice but in all honestly one would just be "proving" what they have learned throughout their life in an assessment. If a person from Mexico came to the U.S. and then learned English I am sure it would be easy for them to get credit for Spanish without jumping through too many hoops.

My opinion comes from after speaking with the language department of my local state university. They stated that college credits would not be awarded if the language challenged was their native tongue. Of course, this is the policy of my state school and other schools may certainly have different policies.

As a side note, the Danish and Norwegian language are very similar and I asked hypothetically, if a Dane passed the Norwegian challenge exam, could they earn credit? The response was "Yes."

People who speak Spanish as a first lang do it all the time. Take a look at the spanish clep/dsst pass rates.

What would I be proving? I would prove that I saved a butt load on earning 12 credits. That works out to about $12 a credit hour!

In Puerto Rico, a US commonwealth, many of the people are bi-lingual English/Spanish. Why not grant them credit for challenging both languages?

    Oh yeah, and Spanglish. hehe!

Good catch B4. I was aware of ACTFL, but never noticed the notation you pointed it. It seems like if did not state that years ago.

I may have my nephew take this so he can get some ACE credit for possible future use. Hell, for less than $150.00, I will pay for it!

    thanks!
