ACE transcript service versus Excelsior credit bank

Perhaps I've completely misunderstood this, but what are the advantages of the Excelsior credit bank over the ACE transcript service? I realise that in the latter case not all credit eligible for entry on this could be used for credit at a given college, yet isn't this true for the Excelsior credit bank also? It (ACE) is so much cheaper I can't help feeling I've missed something somewhere!

Anyone any thoughts or info on this?

    TIA

    ACe transcript service

Good Morning, My husband is currently trying the ACE transcript service. I'll let you know the outcome. It's probably the best value for credit banking currently available. Have a great day. Hille

Caveat Emptor: The ACE credit bank service will *not* transcript previously-earned college credit; only ACE-reviewed, non-collegiate instruction will be included on their transcript. On the plus side, they'll include a course description and the ACE recommendation for credit.

The ACE service is a good investment if you've completed ACE-reviewed training from multiple sources; it saves you the headache of having each individual training provider send a transcript to, for example, three or four different schools. It's also advantageous if your training provider(s) have wacky record-retention schedules.. like some Federal civilian agencies.. and are prone to ship records, training records included, to far-away centers for archiving. (Oh, they can be retrieved. But how long would you rather wait for a transcript- two weeks, or five months?)

  5. Save your $$

Another note: - If you are working on a AS/AA or BS/BA @ Excelsior you can add RA credits for a small cost of $ 25. So if you get a BS from Excelsior, and then say a MBA from ??, you can add all the credits earned to your credit bank for $25 (each time you add credits - (1) to (1000+) = the same $25.

What I have found is that most if not all Univ./Colleges require original transcripts from all schools that you attended. Excelsior will not add degrees to the credit bank - just RA credits earned.

My story was this - I received a BSBA from the Univ. of Phoenix in 1985. - UOP was viewed as more of a prof. business school without a campus. People/Employers did not understand that you could earn a degree in CA from a school in AZ ?? (a common thing today). So, I took my credits and was able to get a degree in Lib. Arts from USNY.

On my resume I put USNY/Regents Degree and no one ever asked me how I earned my degree or if I attended classed in up-state NY. It helped in the mid 80'S - today, I'm not sure....
