Here is a site that has been posted a number of times before but it is a community of doctoral (and masters) students, grads and so on who encourage one another and provide support and advice. It may be helpful for people who get stuck as a poster did in another thread where they have lost motivation or encountered other road blocks. PhinisheD Keep in mind that many of these students have it somewhat worse than a distance learning student in a for profit in that they are in a period of indentured servitude to PhD's while they complete their own and starve.
