Marketing - Fort Hays State University right here it says: TOTAL HOURS REQUIRED FOR DEGREE 124 HOURS does that Mean I can score that degree in 124 hours?
In theory, it's much more. A three semester-hour course is supposed to require three hours per week just in class and also twice as many studying outside of class. Now, yeah, it doesn't always work this way in practice, but that's supposedly the accepted definition.
To clarify, when it says "hours" it means "credit hours." As was mentioned, there are many more hours (time) in earning an hour (credit). So those 124 hours, taken traditionally with a full course load, will take you roughly 4 years to complete.
and this is why so many people have found it useful to pick up as many credits as possible with CLEP (and other) exams. It also explains why many people are interested in accelerated courses because most of the people who visit degreeinfo are working people who can not take a full courseload for 4 years. They might be able to take half of that and so they're looking at a possible 8 year course of study in order to earn a Bachelors. People have done it but, let's face it, 8 years is a long time.
What's with everyone looking for an easy way out? There is something very honorable about devoting 4-5 years to a Bachelors degree. You won't feel the same level of achievement if you clep out of every course and take 5-6 week accelerated courses. Don't cheat yourself out of going at it the hard way. Anyone can take the easy way out.
I'm not looking for self-gratification, I'm only looking for a paper that says "O.K. this guy has a degree" the history/quality of that paper really does not matter to me, I'm already able to get jobs with my diploma, the reason I want a degree is for international travel, you get to loose many perks if you don't have a degree.
