I am enrolled in an MBA program, and frankly I am scared of taking the Managerial Accounting class because most people earn a "C" grade in the course. I want to keep up the 4.0, so I am seeking to take a class outside of my program and transfer it in. Can you please suggest institutions that have the below criteria, in order of importance? 1. RA school that allows non degree seeking students to take MBA level coursework 2. Low cost, short term, and of course self paced would be ideal (I know I don't get them all) The benefit of this is that I receive a high grade and transfer it into my program. At the very least, I receive knowledge in an area that I am not comfortable with. Using the search function, I think CSU Global Campus and APUS may work.
Just a word of advice: be sure to get this approved from your institution before you enroll. If you do not do so, the credits could be rejected.
Might work for you... Hi Least expensive source of RA MBA courses I know of is Amberton U. Last I looked, maybe a year ago, 3-credit courses in this program were somewhere around $700. You can check at Amberton University - Home . They offer: BUS4113 Accounting & Finance for Managers As StefanM says, check with your institution -- see if they allow it. Johann
Here's a crazy idea... How about you take an opencourseware class for free, master the knowledge, then when you feel comfortable take the actual course from your school? MIT OpenCourseWare | Sloan School of Management | 15.521 Management Accounting and Control, Spring 2003 | Home
+1 - add some iTunes and Khan Academy lessons and you will be set. From what I have seen at many schools, it may be unlikely that your current school is not going to let you transfer in credit to meet a core requirement for the program especially since you are already enrolled. If the Managerial Accounting class has a reputation of being a difficult course in the program, they are going to know exactly what you are doing and not allow your transfer. There was a research class in my MPA program that was the same way - people tried all sorts of ways to get around it with transfer and courses in other departments and the answer was always NO. You need to check with the school as others have noted, but don't be surprised if you get a big "NO".
Management accounting [is] management accounting. Why would you believe taking the course for credit elsewhere would allow you too better learn /understand and/or accomplish a higher grade than by taking the class where you’re presently enrolled, e.g., Tarleton State?
