AMU will be seeking NASPAA accreditation for their public administration program. This edited email comes from AMU:

Other online universities have achieved NASPAA accreditation, so it's possible for AMU to get it. Click here to see the other universities.

I'm only taking one AMU MPA class per year until they receive NASPAA accreditation. :cop:

Seeking programmatic accreditation seems to be the trend. DeVry/Keller is also seeking ACBSP accreditation for its business and accounting programs.

Great news here... I'll have to slow my role as well.

I do not even see the MPA program listed anymore.

AMU is also seeking CEPH (Council on Education for Public Health) for it's MPH program. Their self-study is due on Monday. Site visit by CEPH has yet to be scheduled, however, based upon other schools on the applicant list, my guess is that AMU will have a decision by Spring 2013.

This is a follow-up notification that APUS/AMU attended the 2013 NASPAA Annual Conference. Here is a list of the attendees.

    Closer to NASPAA programmatic accreditation

Some interesting topics were discussed at the NASPAA conference, to include:

    1. The Online MPA: Lessons Learned and Best Practices from 4 Accredited Schools

    2. Keep Calm and Carry On...Teaching Online

    3. What to Consider in Launching and Evaluating Online Learning

    4. The NASPAA Online Collaborative: Sharing Courses in Critical Faculty Shortage Areas

    5. Effective Online Instruction ‐ Andragogy for the MPA Student

    6. What’s the Business Plan for Online Education at NASPAA Comprehensive Schools?

Good question! They keep participating in NASPAA conferences as participants, but programmatic accreditation has not yet been achieved. Since the APUS/AMU MPA program has some odd specialties -- does that make it harder to achieve NASPAA programmatic accreditation?

Make it four years now -- going on five!
