Ok, I have been researching ALL of my options for about a month now...I need help and I don't know where to start so try to follow...I started going to the University of Phoenix online about 2 years ago for my Associate's in Business...I was about halfway there and I quit due to..well..honestly...laziness...I had a baby and my husband and I bought the salon I was working at so we got pretty busy and I just felt like school wasn't important at the time..but now I realize it is! I want to finish AT least my associates..but not in business..I am really thinking about General Education so at least I can think about it more if and WHEN I complete a Bachelors. I also didn't care for the school because every time I would start a new "block" it seemed like the prices were going up. So, I have been researching the cheapest online school that I can find but also one that my credits will transfer to and one that is reputable. I am taking this very seriously and want the best for my family and I feel that it is important for me to acomplish this goal that I set for myself years ago. I am not even sure what I am asking for..I guess just opinions on the degree I have choosen, and what schools you have found to be the cheapest and also the ones that you have found to be good schools. Any input is greatly appriciated and I am sorry if this whole thing didn't make a bit of sense...at least it felt good putting it all out there LOL I have been starting to get frustrated!

It is never a bad idea to evaluate where you are and what you want. How many credits do you have? Have you taken all yor general ed classes? Are you a good test taker? Do you care about what "concentration" the degree is in or is it more important to get the AS degree and think about it from there?

Let me get this straight; you are taking care of a baby and running your own hair salon, right? Now you are calling yourself lazy just because you couldn't finish your degree. It seems to me that you are already working 2 full-time jobs, so you are not lazy. Overworked, seems more likely. Being a mom is the hardest job of all.

Often, the best place to get an associate's degree is from a city college. Many offer a number of online classes and night classes. Is that a possibility for you?

Ok, I think that I have 24 credits towards my Associates right now; I have to look up what classes I have taken because I don't even remember anymore. I am an excellent test taker; I was the kid in school that never had to try but always made honor roll (which now I wish I would have tried). Overall, I right now the degree itself is more important than the concentration. I tried an accounting class and I was terrible at it so that was a big reason why I didn't continue the business degree. I LOVE doing hair and owning the salon and I don't really see myself doing anything else but you just NEVER know where life will take you. One day when I'm older and my legs and arms kill me from standing on my feet all day I hope that I am running the business mostly from home but I think it's best to be front and center so I don't know how I really feel about being in the background of my own business. So maybe I will sell and start a new career. WHO KNOWS. ANYWAYS lol, I have looked into my community college and they offer SOME online classes but not enough for doing it entirely online. With my crazy schedule (my husband also owns his own business so his hours are CRAZY) I would never be able to even commit one day a week to a classroom. And thank you for telling me I'm not lazy. I have seen so many women that do so much it makes me feel lazy compared to them LOL. Being a mom is DEF a full time job! And it is also AWESOME :) We are planning on our second baby sooner than later so that was also motivation for me to FINALLY finish school. Thank you everyone for your input it really means a lot!

I would do it via testing out options. You should go to the library or book store and pick up some CLEP study guides for some classes you are missing. Look for the ones published by REA, they are great. I would recommend a BSBA at Thomas Edison State College. I recently graduated from TESC with a BSBA in Computer Information Systems and it was a blast. I really enjoyed learning at my own pace and taking a computerized test when ready. You can finish much much faster than in a traditional college setting this way and do so at your own pace.
I started back in October and finished up by February and am very glad I did it.

Like I said,Clovis CC. They have an AGS that you could have done in a year.

About the accounting class. I dropped out of one in 1996 so I understand how aggravating it is.
I bought the accounting demystified ebook and forced myself to read it from cover to cover. It is a short book and is not too hard to understand.
After that I took straighterline accounting I&II and passed them both with As.
