I'm working on the USQ BBA degree and recently found a big difference in what the Web site says is required for the degree and what the new hardcopy handbook says is required.

I brought this to the attention of the business department and learned that the requirements have indeed changed. Furthermore, when I checked the Web site for the updated information, I found a lot of other updates to the program requirements and course availability.

I know others here are in USQ programs and I just wanted to throw some caution out there and recommend verifying your program requirements independent of the Web site. Probably a good idea of any university program.

Thanks to this oversight, I am now about to start a class that is no longer a core requirement. The class was one I was not too happy about taking in the first place and could have now avoided. While I got it in writing that they would make an exception in my case, and count this class toward my core in place of another, I am still not too happy about the surprise.

    Christian,
there are many errors in the WWW 2002 Handbook, but it seems they have no time correcting this.
The Faculty of Science has withdrawn their courses/programs from USQOnline. The unit diet for some programs has changed dramaticly - at least in the handbook.
I would suggest asking the course coordinators for verification on enrolments/study plans.
But generally they have this australian "no worries" approach which helps them - and us - to manage these situations.
    Good luck

I usually order the hardcopy version for reference, and they tend to come in handy when attempting to apply my USQ units to other universities. Counselors still prefer hardcopy over softcopy course documentation. This year they split their tome of a handbook into two volumes, but I fail to see the logic of this when one is very thin and both together would have been the same size as last year. Oh well.

The Faculty of Science has never really had a presence in USQOnline. I notice from my experience with the online component that there are only 1-2 online students each term per class. This costrasts to 300 or so for the same class in the non-online distance education version. I usually find myself being asked by the instructors to abandon my USQOnline learning environment and joining the 300 or so in the USQConnect environment. I fail to see why these two can't be joined as they are pretty similar.

I doubt USQOnline will survive another year in its present form. I see it being stripped down and assimilated into USQConnect where all students are considered off campus and not divided between off campus and online. This is likely to be transparent to students.

I always do this. It's called "CYA" and I do it at work every day. Thus far the Aussie "no worries" approach has them counting my outmoded classes against future elective requriements, so it all comes out the same in the wash. I really didn't want to take the HR elective stream anyway!

    Regards,
