"A group of the world's leading academics have launched a new British university which they hope will rival Oxford and Cambridge, it was announced today". Daily Telegraph - 12th June 2011. New university to rival Oxbridge will charge £18,000 a year - Telegraph
Call me back in 20 years, after the school has established a track-record of research and scholarship that rivals Oxbridge over the same period.
Agreed completely. Wouldn't touch this with a ten foot pole. That said there are two things they have going for them. 1. If the faculty really is eminent; then I'd take learning from the faculty and gaining access to their contacts as being better than accreditation. Especially true if I get to be a close research assistant. 2. The 20% of the student body getting a full ride; likely to be the people spoken of in point one.. are getting an excellent deal if they work it properly. Accreditation exists to ensure a common level of quality. Once we're talking about the exceptionals its existence means very little. Playing devil's advocate because we're all going to pan this school roundly.
The degree's accredited, since it's from the University of London International Programme. But one could get that for a fraction of the price just by going directly rather than through these guys. In other words, this thing is just a spectacularly overpriced tutorial service for an existing program. -=Steve=-
