As I mentioned to you guys before, I started the MBA program at Ashford University a couple of months ago. To get to the point, I don't like it. The advisers have just been terrible and they neglected to tell me some things.

So I'm wondering how difficult it would be to transfer to another school. I'm receiving federal aid and my first disbursement is supposed to be disbursed this Tuesday. Would it be difficult to get those funds transferred to another school? I'm not familiar with how federal aid works for someone that wants to transfer.

    Thanks for any help.

    DaMooseter-

Just out of curiosity, you did your undergrad at Ashford and liked it enough to start a Master's Degree. What's different now?

The best place to start would be to get in touch with the school you want to transfer to and let them know the situation and see what they say. Every school has a different way of handling FA so they would be best.

Broken promises, royally screwing up my paper work, failing to notify me of significant changes to my federal aid etc. They lured me in with this "you're an alum, you're so special to us" crap and now I have nothing good to say about the school.

I agree with Shal916 that the best place for you to start would be the destination school.

I had to do the same thing when I transferred from Davenport University to Liberty University. You need to make sure you are not enrolled in any courses. You would get with the new school you plan to enroll and they should provide you with the "Overlapping Loan Period" form for Ashford's financial aid dept. to complete and fax directly to your school. Of course, different schools requirements may vary, but if enrolling with your new school during the same semester, I am sure your new school will need some type of form completed from Ashford before they can issue any financial aid grants and/or loans.
