    Thanks Kizmet.
it seems to be a respected university.
The only thing : independently of the the depht of each course of study, the numbers of exams requested to complete the degree is ridicolous.
there are many missing part and gaps in this program.
I'm italian and studied in depht philosophy in the last 4 years of high school, including greek and latin.
now i'm living abroad and would like to realize a small dream. with the help of the structure of a degree go back to study my beloved philosophy. I was thinking why all the biggest university are not really investing money and resources to shorten the gap between an online degree and a regular one.
it's a pity. just think if it would be possible to enroll to the Sorbonne ( Paris ) for the b.a. in philosophy, and have a recorded video of the real lesson!!!!!!! would be amazing.
Anyway, really thanks for your help.
    have a nice week end

If you can't find the tuition page on the UIS website, maybe you should reconsider attempting an online degree.

I'm sorry that this sounds so snarky; I tried several ways to reword it but they all sound pretty bad. It's really meant as serious, helpful advice. No online degree is going to give you the amount of hand-holding that you can get in a brick-and-mortar school, and being able to navigate the web to find resources is a pre-requisite to success.

I was going to write the same thing. Even worse is attempting a program with U of London, which isn't a traditional online program but a self-paced distance program with little to no interaction with your instructors.

I agree that model's not right for everyone, but you make it sound like it's not right for anyone, and I don't think that's so. In other words, it's not "worse", it's simply different.

(Also, an admittedly minor point, since the University of London has been doing distance learning that way since the middle of the 19th century, I think it's they and not online programs that warrant the description of "traditional".)

If you are really interested in a philosophy degree you may become disappointed once you discover how few opportunities exist for those seeking DL programs. At that point you might reconsider the available options. Oh, and by the way, my weekend was especially nice. I went to the beach. 83 degrees F with a small breeze.

Thanks for your concern (?), GB, but I'm just finishing up my Master's by distance, so don't worry your pretty little head over me. I'm just tired of school's not being up front about tuition. Make it easy to find, or at least findable.

A morsel for your thought: know more about whom you address before you jump in. If in doubt, don't. ;-)

Well, since you (for whatever reason) seem unable to find the link, here it is:

Well, now I'm very curious... this thread was started by "Combo 43" who has a total of two posts on this board. But when people are giving advice, you are replying to them as if you were the OP. What's up with that?

It's especially not right for someone who can't use the search box on this forum or click on a few tabs to discover the tuition for a particular institution. That was my only point, if someone shows little interest in doing their own homework, they might struggle with the way U of London does things. No disrespect was intended to U of London.

I would like to remind everyone that this is a discussion forum where people are encouraged to register and ask questions. Having been a member/Moderator here for quite a while I understand that newbie questions can be repetitive BUT PART OF THE PURPOSE OF THIS WHOLE BOARD IS TO ANSWER NEWBIE QUESTIONS. Nobody is obligated to answer questions, from newbies or anyone else so if you don't want to answer a specific question then just don't answer it. People who are consistently and gratuitously critical/negative are less than welcome.
