I'm looking to teach one or two online courses. I've earned RA degrees in pastoral ministry (BS), counseling (MDiv) and leadership (DMin). Any guidance is appreciated.
Where have you applied so far? Here is a list of places to start- American Public University System Argosy Ashford Aspen AUI Axia Baker Bellevue University Capella Capitol College CityU of Sea. Colorado Christian University Columbia college COSC CTU Online deVry Eastern Iowa Community Emmery Riddle Empire State College Florida Insitute of Technology Grand Canyon Independence University Jones International University Kaplan Keiser Liberty Strayer Troy State TUI Univ. Maryland - University College University of Mgt and technology Walden Webster Western Governors NCU RioSalado CC Excelsior WEST
Have you taught f2f before? I work closely with our departmental chairs who do most of the part-time instructor hiring. Generally, they won't hire someone to teach online if they don't have some regular teaching experience. Can't say it doesn't happen, but it is rare here. If you don't have any teaching experience, I would suggest hitting up your local community college. Get some experience on your resume and it might smooth things a bit going forward. Another hint: go by and try to meet with the departmental chairs or the person that does the hiring for part-timers around three weeks before classes start. There is almost always a scramble to fill slots.
You might check spelling on some of the names (I am not criticizing Randall's spelling, btw - I know that is a copied list), if you are googlind the names. For example, I know it is "Embry-Riddle" not "Emmery Riddle" so it might help to find them.
Yes, double check for duplicates also. I had AMU and American Military at one point. I just have a spreadsheet with a bunch of schools list. Makes me think of a quote from one of my favorite TV shows "Do you want speed or accuracy?" Murray the Cop - The Odd Couple
It is only appropriate that in an email where I would point out a spelling error, I can't even spell googling correctly... sigh...
