So I am still looking for a good Masters degree program to go into. I have found that Western New Mexico University has a very cheap Masters of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies and Liberty University has a Masters of Arts in Management and Leadership. They are two different degrees but WNMU is about $7000 less than Liberty. Both programs are very good. Any take on how well that UNMU will look compared to the Liberty University degree? PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Both schools are OK, not standouts. It's going to depend on how you plan to use the degree. The WNMU is generic. How will it help you? The Liberty degree is in Business. Is that your direction? There are so many business degrees out there, you shouldn't have to compromise.

Well I am currently in Law Enforcement and just wanted to look into a online program that isn't very costly. I am mostly always at work so I can't actually attend a B/M university. The WNMU allows me to design my own degree the way I want it. Liberty University was just a second pick for me because the MAML program looks interesting. I know a Business degree can be used in mostly all job markets but it is not a requirement. Can anyone think of any other "less costly" but flexible option. (NO Criminal Justice degrees).

    Shal916,
Just to be clear with the MAML you will learn management from different industries not just business. I chose the MAML from Liberty because it was a leadership/management degree. Additionally my undergraduate work was in organizational leadership. At first I did not want to do an MBA so I chose the MAML due to the broad study in management and leadership. You will see how some courses do it apply to LAW Enforcement, government, and business when you begin to take some of the classes like:
    BUSI 500 Organizational Behavior
BUSI 501 Executive Leadership and Management
    BUSI 520 Strategic Marketing Management
    BUSI 530 Managerial Finance
    BUSI 550 Effective Executive Communication
    BUSI 560 Corporate Responsibility
BUSI 561 Legal Issues in Business
    BUSI 602 Non-Profit Management
    BUSI 603 Entrepreneurship
    BUSI 604 International Business

    Potential Career Options

    Business Owner
    Finance Manager
    Human Resource Manager
    Non-profit Manager
    Organizational Manager
    Retail/Sales Manager

I hope you find what best meets your needs. I know this board has been a major blessing for me. Since I joined in 2009 I completed my B.S. Organizational Leadership DEC 2009, and finished my first graduate degree M.A.M.L 2011 051411 now I am enrolled in my second graduate degree MBA due to wrap up December 2011 CROSS your fingers LOL... If you look closely at the MAML and MBA degree completion you will se that to obtain both degrees you will need an additional 7 courses... I think that is doable.

Don't overlook Amberton that offers a MA in Professional Development (Amberton University - Distance Learning) for about $700 per class

I'm obviously biased, but I'd go with WNMU. It allows you the freedom to design a degree. The professors I had were amazing, and you simply can't beat the cost.

I will call both Liberty and WNMU and see what i like best. I know WNMU is a much smaller school than Liberty so I will be able to get more attention during class if I need to interact with the instructors. Liberty I don't know how their instructors are. The cost is a big factor for me as well and WNMU's degree would be almost 7000 less than the Liberty Degree. I am only looking at a masters degree to have it if I every need to fall back on it. Also I knowthat Liberty is working towards getting accredited from ACBSP which would be a plus for them. Just confused!!

I have a Master of Arts in Counseling from Liberty - an older version obtained 1993 and am completing a MAIS from WNMU in English and Writing (one poety course and a thesis left). Both schools are excellent schools but WNMU seems a little more laid back (do not interpret this as easy) in their approach to learning and their customer service seems to be better than I remember from Liberty. You can't go wrong with either school - I think the choice is riding on what degree you want and why you want it. If you want a business degree go with Liberty; if you simply want a Masters go with WNMU and pick two subject areas you enjoy. Good Luck!

I’m in Law enforcement as well for ten years. I have a Masters degree in Criminal Justice. If I the opportunity to do it again, I would go back for a Master's of Public Admin. (M.P.A) Just a thought, and it opens a lot of doors for you.
