I am a student at Antioch University in New England. Ask me any questions that you want.

My thoughts regarding Antioch DL... I know they have a PhD in Leadership and Change that is pretty awesome, and low-residency. AUNE's (Green) MBA in Organizational Sustainability program now has an online cohort. The Green MBA is very successful here in New England, and many of the students travel from far away to attend it. Some from as far away as CA. I can only assume that the online cohort would be a great experience!

That is great to know. I emailed them early today seeing if it was too late to apply for the 2011 cohort. They told me it was and that i had to wait till 2012. I really wanted to start a program sooner then that.

    AUNE Green MBA

Sorry to hear that. I think that the 2011 online cohort just began in May, so it probably was not possible to accept anyone else. Or, maybe all of their slots were filled? I don't know. However, I really think that MBA program at AUNE is spectacular and very cutting edge... and it would be worth it to wait until 2012. Also, the B&M program is low-residency and meets once per month. There are a lot of students who travel pretty far and are able to take part in it because of that. If you think that you might be able to do that too, I would definitely recommend looking into it.

I looked at the PhD from Antioch University. It looked interesting until the part about how its total cost of ownership was north of eighty thousand dollars. Maybe I'd have kept reading were someone else paying, but sure as hell not otherwise.

Taking a look at the tuition at The University of Vermont (my state) for an out of state resident, a doctoral/graduate student will pay $85,000 for a traditional full time 5-year program. Keep in mind that not all doc programs are funded. Especially those focusing on Management or Leadership. I haven't compared that to other doctoral programs, but basing Antioch's PhD tuition on that figure, I'd say that it is anything but overpriced. Especially for having the ability and flexibility to do things that a low-res program allows one to do.

Meanwhile, for example, Northeastern's EdD is $22,000. Fine, Education and Leadership aren't quite the same thing. But Baker College's DBA is still only half as much as AUNE.

Not saying I'm arguing with your choice, though. It's your nickel, if you think it's a good deal, then great!

I can tell you whatever you would like to know about Sullivan University. There are still some slots in the 2011 Ph.D. cohort. Feel free to PM me if you like.

Well, I guess that anyone choosing between those two doctorates would have to decide which is better for them.

It seems as though the OP is interested in MBA programs... particularly programs in organizational sustainability. If s/he chooses to look at PhD or EdD programs, then I am sure your experience with EdD programs will be quite valuable.

Would you like me to put you in touch with a friend who just graduated from the MBA program? I am sure that she could give you some helpful information about the program and answer any questions that you might have.

I’m truly looking for a PhD Program not an MBA program. Thank you though. What is the accreditation on both of the schools are they national?

What are peoples thoughts on Nova Southeastern U?

My apologies. I thought that you were replying to the part about the MBA program. I should have asked for more information before moving on :)

Antioch is accredited by NCA. Sullivan is accredited by SACS. Both are regionally accredited.

Well, the Antioch that I know here is different than the Antioch College that I knew when growing up in the US... which was known for a progressive liberal arts undergraduate education, and social activism.

The University system recently shut down the college campus due to enrollment, and the alumni have since bought it back and are reopening it as an independent institution this year.

Antioch in New England is a graduate school for Education, Environmental Sciences, Psychology, and Management. All of the areas are pretty specialized, and social justice and experiential education are a pretty strong threads that run throughout each program. Each discipline has a pretty great reputation here locally. It is one of only 3 school in the US to offer a Waldorf Education Masters Degree, and one of only 6 in the US/World to offer a Masters degree in Dance/Movement Therapy and Counseling. It was one of the pioneers of the sustainable MBA, and has some of the most respected Conservation Biology faculty in the US.

Anyway... the PhD is University-wide, but I have seen cohorts meet at my campus some times. I honestly don't know enough about it to give you an honest opinion... but I am under the impression that it's a really good program!!!

Antioch has a good program, but I'm a bit prejudiced towards Sullivan :)

    Dr. Pina,

Would it be OK to post thoughts about Sullivan here on the thread too?? Unfortunately I can't speak much about Antioch's PhD in Leadership and Change... but maybe there will be someone here in the future who can speak about it. You mention that it is a good program. Would you be able to share why, and maybe offer a comparison between the two PhD programs if you can? :)
