    Hi all,

I am new to the forum and am hoping youcan assist me.

I am currently studying for an MBA at Oxford Brookes University UK by Distance learning. So far so good, however my question is as follows, An individual I know sugessted that I look at Excelsior College to get a primary degree using my credits form OBU, I have checked their website and assumed because they were R/A that they were Legitimate.

Although having viewed some of the posts here I am not too sure. !

Can somebody pls advise ?? Thanks

They are R/A and as legitimate as you can get. I have a BA in Sociology (1990) that I used to matriculate into the Masters at Liberty University. Good Luck in your studies.

I am not sure where the "not too sure" came from. They are one of the top DL institutions in the US and many of the posters to this board are alumni. Anyway, it is a good option for you to look into.

They're regionally accredited through the Middle States Association, and some of their programs hold additional vocational accreditation (they have the largest and most widely-accepted distance learning nursing program in the U.S.). I don't know where you got the idea they might not be legitimate.

I've never run across anyone knowledgeable who doubts Excelsior's legitimacy. Quite a few posters here and on alt.education.distance were displeased with the college's change of name from Regents College, University of the State of New York, but a rose by any other name . . .

Good luck with your DL endeavors.

Unlike UK degrees, US degrees require a wide distribution of credits in liberal arts and humanities in addition to major area of studies. As a result, you may need to study for a number of additional credits in these areas even you may get credits from your OBU MBA subjects.

As you are studying for an MBA at OBU and now also want to get a bachelor degree, do you mean that there is no requirement for a bachelor degree to study for OBU MBA? If you are professional qualified in accounting (e.g. ACCA) or in some other areas, some UK Universities grant first two years of exemption from a bachelor degree to professional qualified person. If you are in this case, you may also check with some UK universities for the exemption.

    OBU MBA

    Yan,
    In answer to your question

do you mean there is no requirement for a bachelor degree to study for an OBU MBA.

Normally there is, You need a primary degree plus 4 years management experience. However it is possible to enter the program without a primary degree if you have in excess of 7 years management experience and do the GMAT test (OBU require a min score of 500) I took the latter route as I had 15 years of senior management experience and some previous college (a diploma).

There is one issue though I am not sure if OBU do the DL MBA directly anymore, normally it is delivered thru a 3rd party.

This you could check with OB though.

Thks for the info on the credits and possibility of having to do some xtra work.

    Andrew
