Greetings Everyone, I have a bit of a predicament and maybe I can find some help. I have had a good career in IT without a college degree spanning almost twenty years. I currently work for a federal agency doing information security and assurance. I have been both lucky and successful but I am at a glass ceiling of sorts. I have supplemented my education throughout the years with certificate programs but I wish to move into more managerial and decision making roles. I have about 70 credit hours and would like to solicit some opinions on plans for the following coursework. Not sure if it matters but I was in the military as well. The first program sequence I am considering is finishing up my degree at AMU/APU and then enter Georgetown's MPS program for Technology Management or HES. The next sequence I am considering is finish my undergraduate program at UMass Online and attempt to enter the Isenberg MBA program or HES. My future goal is to enter a management or executive level position preferably not in government. My initial thinking is that a general MBA from Isenberg is stronger on a resume than a focused Master in Professional Studies. Also does AMU/APU still carry any stigma? I don't want there to be any doubt in a future employer's mind the quality or rigor of an education. I also found Umass's programs to be very affordable comparatively. Thanks in advance for your thoughts and suggestions.
If you’re trying to decide undergraduate programs between APU /AMU and UMass as regards potential [stigma] attachment; I’d go with UMass … hands down.
HES will require you to complete some classes in residence. I wouldn't consider it if you're not a commutable distance from Cambridge.
Thanks Major. Eventually that question may come up in an interview and I don't feel like I want to explain it. The price is certainly right and in time I think the stigma will go away for AMU/APU.
Check out Liberty University. I've just completed my first full semester with them and have really enjoyed myself. :lew:
