So I was considering taking two grad cert programs and I'm wondering how these are viewed by RA accreditation committees and schools? I currently teach for an RA State community college that is going through the reaccreditation process with SACS. Do these count at all? I know they are sending my transcripts and resume to SACS. How are these viewed by CC's for teaching? I'm in a very small rural town and when I ask these types of questions they have no idea because no one else has done this. I'm also looking at some open courseware and wondering if these count towards anything even though they are no for credit? Do you have even get put on a transcript? I have been teaching at the CC level for 10years, but would like to move up to the University level to teach online classes for some extra money and experience and I'm wondering if these would help at all? I know there are a lot more knowledgable educators here, especially with advanced degrees and university experience. Thanks for your help!

I don't believe they count for anything. You get free access to the information, but nothing on your transcripts and no certificate. In theory, some school COULD develop a credit DL course around some open courseware, but then you would have to submit homework and take exams.

Open courseware will get you nothing but personal enrichment.

Grad certificates could be used to achieve the required hours in a discipline (18 hours for SACS) to teach undergraduate course in the discipline. You would, however, need a completed Master's degree in some subject.
