I'm looking at taking some courses from these 3 schools: Clovis Community College, New Mexico Junior College, and Central New Mexico Community College. I'll need to transfer the credits to another school. I wonder, are these schools accredited?
All three of those CCs are accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, which is the regional accreditor that covers New Mexico.
It's a pretty easy thing to check online. As GeneralSnus tells us, they are all regionally accredited. No problem with transfer of credits in general, however, you need to check with the school you intend to transfer to. It is possible that, while the CC accreditation is fine, the school you are transferring to will not accept many of your classes because they do not fit into the program you wish to enter. Most of the CCs in California have protocols, like IGETC, for you to follow that will insure 100% transfer.
As SurfDoctor said, the receiving college makes the call. I have a number of students who have taken math classes (Pre-Cal and such) at our community college, only to transfer to a 4 year school engineering program and be told they have to take those classes over again regardless of what grades the got. The four year school will take their other classes like English and History, but it wants their own "in major" classes. -Matt
