Do schools in the US typically have Honors programs or an equivalent for graduate studies? Have you ever seen this offered in On-line classes?

I'm not aware of Honors programs at the graduate level. As an undergraduate, if you are in an Honors track program you are essentially doing graduate level course work. None of the graduate schools I've attended (granted thats only 3) have graduate level honors programs.

"Sigma Beta Delta Honor Society for students in business, management, and administration serves institutions which offer baccalaureate and graduate degrees in business, management, and administration where the institution holds accreditation from one of the six regional accrediting bodies but not specialized accreditation in business"

Those aren't honors programs, they are honors societies.

There have not been honors programs in any of the graduate schools I have attended. I graduated with a very high GPA for my master's degree and was disappointed that there was little recognition of my achievement. I received a very small notation on my diploma that said "with distinction", was invited to join the Pi Lambda Theta honors society and was given a gold cord to wear at graduation. That was it. The best thing is the membership in Pi Lambda Theta because it looks good on a CV.

There are schools that offer post-graduate diplomas (popular in the Australian universities). That's the closest I could get. If the op has a specific subject area in mind we could probably find a specific example.

Honors programs are something you are admitted into going into a program, it isn't some distinction you earn. Graduating with honors/distinction, being invited to join an honors society and being in an "honors program" are completely different things. People on the board seem to be getting them confused.

    Correct.

As a general rule, an "honors program" is a variant on curriculum.

Graduating with honors is recognition for performance in the given curriculum.

There was no confusion on my part. I was simply relating the only instance where I have seen any recognition of honors students and any usage of the word "honors" in graduate programs. I would assume that most of us would understand the difference between earning honors on a degree and being enrolled in an honors program. That's pretty simple stuff.

Apparently it isn't, based on the responses to the OP's question in this thread.

Sorry about that. That's what I get for just glancing at the question...
