I saw a thread for the Real Estate Broker's License by NorCal recently. But can anyone recommend any DL classes so I can take the 3 required courses such as Real Estate Practice, Real Estate Principle, and possibly Property Management for the Salesperson License instead in CA? Anybody with personal experience?

Also, anybody think in class as opposed to online might be a better option? And if so any suggestions in the Los Angeles area as well?

    Thank you in advance.

Ok I found some on older threads here. However, any current info would be greatly appreciated since I plan on deciding this week.

A friend is studying for her exam - she works for another Realtor part time and is studying using books only. Then she will take the state exam.

Thanks Ian, but I think you need to pass 3 courses before you take the exam unless you've passed the CA State Bar or have a CA Brokers license already. At least that's what I've read on the CA DRE website.

On the website there are a bunch of schools listed but I thought somebody here might be able to help me narrow down my choices if at all possible.

If your goal is solely to be able to meet the requirement to take the exam, there are several schools that are dirt cheap ($40 per course or something) where they supply you with a book, you read it, take the exam which is 100 multiple choice questions, open book, over 3 hours, with only 60% correct required to pass. And this is why most real estate agents suck :)

But if it's a means to an end, that's the quick and simple way to do it, and it's legal and meets the CA dept of real estate requirements. If you want the info, I'll dig around and find the one my friend used that is set up like i described above.

Chip, that's exactly what I want, that type of school that I can finish quickly which meets the requirements of the CA DRE. I'm not proud of it but I'm not ashamed of it either. I just need to get this license as a backup just in case I ever get laid off or worse fired at my current job. In this shaky economy you just never know. Hopefully, I won't be one of the sucky ones you're referring to. Anyway, any info you can throw my way would be great.

Just to update for others who are interested in obtaining a real estate license. I went with Allied Real Estate School (online). I wish they were RA so I can possibly use the credits in the future for possibly another RA degree but oh well.
