    Hi,

I'll be starting a graduate program in education in April, and wanted to get some input from those who teach and design curriculum for distance learning programs.

I'm looking at concentrating in educational technology. The local Universities do not have a specialty area in distance learning and teaching, so I'll probably pick up the certificate from CSU Hayward in addition to the MA.

That's not to say I'm unfamiliar with the subject matter. I worked for a distance education provider a few years back, and also served as a web master for a university. I'm technically competent, hold four MCP certifications, and have roughly six years experience in web development.

Given the above, I have a few questions.

Is there a forum or listsrv available that serves the distance education community from the design and implementation end?

Are there any specific courses that would be of more use than others in a general Education program?

Will Section 508 impact the way distance courses are delivered and taught? By this I mean, would it be beneficial to seek out coursework in accessibility design?

I'm in Southern California. Given that I have relatively easy access to CSU San Bernardino, CSU Bakersfield, and CSU Northridge, has anyone had experience with the education programs at these schools?

    Thanks in advance!
