    Interesting, thanks for that. It's almost like the problem of music being downloaded instead of being bought. This practice is almost destroying the music industry. Now research is available online and hampering the sale of academic books.

    The positive side is the open access to publishing on the Internet. This phenomena has made publishing available to many academics who were heretofore unable to land a publishing deal. In this case, there is little monetary compensation, but at least the author's work is out there.
