My daughter is looking at SUNY online. Looks like a few great online programs. Anyone have any experience with them? I notice that tuition is pretty low. On first inspection it looks like $200 a unit. Am I wrong?

Which SUNY? I went to SUNY Stony Brook and it was excellent! Most of the SUNY schools are good but the State of New York is broke and doesn't have the money to continue funding some of these programs so they are making many budget cuts.

With SUNY - Empire State College, your daughter can test out and transfer most of her credits. They even have prior learning assessments.

I've heard a lot about them, mostly that their courses are tough and that their service is reliable and friendly.

Last I remember, their tuition was $207/credit. However, if you take more than a certain amount of credits in a given semester (I think 12, I'd have to look it up again), each additional credit is free. If your daughter is crazy enough to try 5 4-credit courses in a semester, she could get 20 credits for the price of 12. I wouldn't put myself through that, personally, but if she has it in her, how cool would that be?

I'm also doing Intro to Data Analysis with Excel (MTH-166-SL1) at Monroe Community College SUNY

so much easier doing a math/software course than a science course
also, only one discussion question for the Data Analysis course compared with the 3 for A&P
but the Data course has more homework where as the A&P course had none
the A&P course is all study, study, study and then lab exam and text quiz every week, but the Data Analysis has no quizzes, but has 4-12 graphing and statistical problems due every week (you work at your own pace and then upload your spreadsheets and word files at the end of every week)

oh, the A&P 2 course is slightly better than the A&P 1 course because in the A&P 2 course the instructor uploads flash files and animations of the different physiological processes which makes everything easier, but I still think A&P in general is more difficult online than it wold be in person

I graduated from Geneseo in 2006, and am taking an additional Calc course from Empire State online to bolster an application to grad school. There is no lecture from the professor of the class, just the lectures from the book publisher on MathLab. Other than that, the class has been decent. Probably easier than it would be in person at the campuses.
