    I just sat two CLEPS:

    Intro to Psych.

    and Analyzing and Interpreting Lit.

I got a 66 on the Pysch exam and 57 on the Analyzing exam..
Excelsior will give an A for Psych and B for Analyzing!?
I thought I failed both of them!! I was amazed that I didnt..
Do any of you guys think the scoring system is a LITTLE too lenient? Not that I'm complaining, but I just couldn't imagine getting a high grade on the literature exam considering I feel like I guessed alot of them answers! I didn't brush up on my literary terms and that is a must for this test (that and I have the reading level of a 1st grader SEE SPOT... SEE SPOT RUN lol).

I suspect that the phenomenon you experienced is similar to one that most of us experience from time to time: That of taking a test, thinking we blew it, and then being relieved to find out that we actually did quite well. I think that this occurence often operates independently of how hard a test is graded.

Good test-taking strategy also makes a difference. Were your guesses wild, or did you eliminate choices you knew where wrong before guessing? Employing such practices can greatly improve your scores.

It is also possible that you are better at analyzing and interpreting literature than you think. Maybe you discovered a hidden aptitude. That might explain why you did better than others who studied more. After all, not everyone even understands "See Spot run. Run Spot, run."

    Re: Re: New CLEP Scoring

    Tracy,

Come to think of it, none of the guesses I made were completely random. There were a few questions that seemed like that every answer BUT the correct one made no sense in relation to the passage. So, maybe I did make some educated guesses..

What I DO know is that I made 9 credits in 3 hours!

I took 14 CLEP and DANTES exams between December 18, 01 and January 21, 02 for a total of 57 credits. My results were: Pass - 4 (CLEP general exams), A - 8, B - 1, still waiting for results - 1. In many cases I did much better than expected. I attributed this to my test taking strategy where I first went through the test only answering the questions that I felt confident I knew. I then went back and spent the remaining time on the questions I found difficult. Since a large part of my time, and specifically the last portion of the time, was spent on questions I wasn't sure of, I left with a false feeling of not having done well.

    All the best,
