How would you answer this HR question if you completed most of the credits for a BS with CLEPs? Education: Did you participate in any online courses? If so, what % of those courses was online? (appx.) Which courses were online? For my BS, I only really took two online classes - Intro to Astronomy from Indiana University and Government from Florida State COllege All the others were transfers from B&M schools or CLEPs. So, would the answer be 2?
yep, 2 they don't ask people how many credits they received through AP exams, yet it is very common for advanced students to take a few AP courses in high school and receive college credit
I'd say 2 out of *whatever*. With CLEP and DANTES being available to practically everyone, it's not like you took advantage of some on-line learning process only available over the internet.
I think in an interview you should answer questions truthfully or not at all, and in this case the true answer is two. What gets me, though, is that you have a PhD yet they're still bothering to ask this at all. Is this for a clearance or something? -=Steve=-
I wonder how many many interviews or job applications would actually bring up that question. I would guess that it would come up almost every time in an interview for an academic job. My DL doctorate will be from a B&M school and there will be no indication on transcripts that it was earned 50% DL. However, I'll bet that any academic job I apply for will have that question somewhere in the process.
Or the flip side, an organization that uses a lot of DL or computer based training, and wants to see if the applicant is comfortable with them.
Thank you, I didn't think of that. I would be more inclined ask the candidate for examples of successful use of DL and online learning, rather than listing numbers of courses and % of content. "Give me an example of when learned something useful on your own. What problems did you solve? How did you apply what you learned?" Phillip
