Music History (not Music Appreciation) Independent Study Courses?

Hello All,

I'm looking for some independent study courses in Music History for my wife. I checked BYU and LSU but found nothing. Does anyone else know of a good place to look for this?

 

I don't want to be discouraging, but do these sorts of courses exist even in B&M programs?

 

Most definitely. They are usually offered in every music degree.

I can recommend MUS 321 and MUS 322 at Ohio U.

These courses are not much different than what is offered on campus.
The courses are correspondence, not online, and require a proctored midterm and final, though, including a music listening (identify works) using a cassette recorder.

You really do have to have a background in music and music theory to get through these courses - they're identical to the courses their music majors take on campus.
