Why would Vatterott College want to stop promoting its accreditation?

    Here's a first.

I just heard that Vatterott College (apparently a trade school with a bunch of campuses, specializing in things like diesel mechanics and IT and so forth) has asked all websites marketing it to immediately stop making any mention of its accreditation.

My initial thought was that it must have fake accreditation... but it does not. Most, if not all, of its campuses, according to the CHEA database have ACCSC accreditation, which is DoEd recognized. Though not as widely accepted as regional accreditation, ACCSC is certainly legitimate.

So... why on earth would the school *not* want that mentioned? Did they get nailed for implying RA? Are they about to lose their ACCSC accreditation? Does anyone have any idea?

If I were a betting man, I'd put some money on that theory.

I found this on the ACCSC website, maybe it has something to do with it?

    http://www.accsc.org/Content/FormsAndReports/documents/AccreditationAdvisory011911.pdf

The doc makes mention of a recent "name and logo change" for ACCSC ... what was the name change? It doesn't seem to be mentioned anywhere. Perhaps Vatterott's actual request was for websites to stop using the old ACCSC info in reference to their school, as per ACCSC's guidelines? Just speculation, here.

You just heard that? Perhaps if we knew more about your source we could comment more usefully?

I'd think that even if they thought they were going to be disaccredited, they'd keep that logo on their site until the last possible day.

As I earlier mention, Vatterott hasn’t stopped citing its ACCSC accreditation (FAQ): Vatterott Educational Centers, Inc. – Offering business, medical, technical, trades, court reporting and culinary programs at 23 campuses across the mid-west and online!

Here are some additional examples of Vatterott College campuses regarding accreditation:

Vatterott College – Tulsa | Trade School | Diploma Programs | Associate’s Degree | Computer Technology | Electrical | HVAC | Medical | Criminal Justice

Nonetheless, I suppose it’s also another possible scenario, vs. loosing accreditation (?), that Vatterott Educational Centers, Inc. may not choose to reapply (02/12/12) for ACCSC accreditation (?); perhaps via another NA (?) … and Vatterott definitely hasn’t ceased publicizing their current ACCSC accreditation.
