Hello all... I have not posted in a while, but I need help and I know that this forum is a fountain of information.

I have an MBA, but I am now looking at getting my CFP (Certified Financial Planner) designation because I am going to become a financial advisor soon.

I need to fullfill some additional education requirements and I am hoping someone can point me to the cheapest options to get this done via online ed...

I have 5K per year in tuition assistance through my company... so that is the budget that I am trying to work in...

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks

Maybe I'm the only one wondering this...

What additional education requirements are you needing to fulfill?

It appears you have them met with your BA.

    There are two educational requirements.

CFP® Course, Certified Financial Planner® Course, Financial Planning - The American College

    1) Have a Bachelor's degree
    2) Complete one of the registered academic programs (this is waived and you can "challenge" the exam if you have certain degrees like a doctorate in business, are a licensed attorney, or have other credentials like CPA/CLU/ChFC/CFA)

Since the OP fulfills 1, he must be asking about 2. Here is a list of qualifying distance programs.

Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. - List of CFP Board-Registered Programs

This one from The American College looks way under your reimbursement and The American College is the institution that grants the CLU and ChFC which have been around for a long time and are well respected, so this would be my choice. I think you could also use these course for the ChFC if you want both (or get the ChFC and use it to "challenge" the CFP exam)
