What’s the longest you have gone with your instructor not logging in and grading any papers? I’m at 9 days and 10 hours according to Moodle.

  2. I don't know about logging in, but for one of my UIS courses I've yet to receive a grade, and the instructor keeps on finding "errors" that require changes - for example, the topic to be posted by Thursday of a week gets changed on Wednesday, erasing anyone's responses who had posted by then. Oh, and changing the midterm date (without effectively communicating it) a few weeks into the term, after schedules had already been set.

I just had this issue. I submitted a paper to my instructor and waited for a response for almost 2 weeks. When he emailed me some stuff for next semester I asked him about it and he stated he thought he already replied back to me. (I have no idea where he sent the email)

For me personally, about two weeks is how long i'll wait before giving the friendly nudge to my professors.

I have had over 2 weeks before but that has only happened in one class! At one point I had 3 or 4 papers ungraded and had no clue how I was doing writing in that class but had to just cross my fingers that I was doing okay.... If your worried about it I would send a friendly email to the instructor!

I've managed to keep on top of grading my students' assignments, but if I'd overlooked one I'd definitely want to hear from that student.

  7. That's a bit extreme...

From what I can see it's his first gig as an adjunct, so he's probably still figuring things out. As long as it doesn't happen in other courses I'm OK with it.

I had an AMU course where in week 7 of 8, the instructor still hadn't graded any student assignments from week 4 or later.

I finally got a decent grade (A-) but I made sure to submit a critical end of course survey.

It seems like some of these adjuncts are so overloaded that they are not able to respond any more quickly. That was the impression I received during my tenure at NCU.

Undergrad - No idea...too long ago

Grad - Grades were always up in a 24-48 hour timeframe.

Contact the program director - APUS policy is that grades must be returned within 5 days from the due date.

I'm scared to do that. AJU has a policy that states 4-5 days but I don't want t0o give a reason for him/her to hit me with a lower grade.

I have one class that has had zero contact from the beginning of the semester. But, the professor did an incredible job of providing a precise structure and expectation set. I know what you are going through is frustrating, though. Especially if the grading is subjective, you have to tread lightly.

That happened near the end of 2009 - thankfully I have had no issues since.

Got my mid-term grade in today thank god. You have to pass the mid-term and the final to pass the class. I got a B so it's not great but it's passing.

    months.

the grad classes have typically had few assignments: reading (due by course end); contributing to weekly on-line discussions; a mid-term assignment, or test, or paper, and a final paper. Sometimes the prof's would show up in the discussions, some of them wouldn't.

I got my final mark, that's all - no feedback mid-way, which I wished there had been.

I get that it might be his first gig but changing things a day before they are due and changing mid terms etc without proper notification is unacceptable even from a newbie. If you are fine with it then great but I personally would not be and wouldn't pay good money to a school for that type of instructor. This is just me personally :)
