Has anybody done any of the online degrees or programs at University of Alabama? Just curious what others have thought about the programs, administration, support, employer feedback, etc. There is one program they offer which would significantly supplement my current Masters/Bachelors however am a bit suspect since I have not seen the programs anywhere else via distance, no barometer if you will.

    Cheers,

One of my co-workers got his master's in library science there and thinks very highly of the program. It was synchronous which I think is a far superior experience to the more common asynchronous programs.

One of my co-workers is currently working on a second bachelor degree at the University of Alabama (general business). This is his first semester of online classes and he started off with a full plate. Once he realized he had too much going on, he cut his hours back and seems to like. For a minute he was talking about quitting and stressed out about the workload. I told his ass to start off slow and pick things up once he got a feel for the whole online thing but he is hard-headed.

I'll ask him later when he relieves me how he feels about it.

I also know a guy who is getting ready to do a MS in Library Science there but can provide no feedback thus far. I've actually considered their MS in Ops Management but am taking a hiatus from education for a while. Can't beat the fact that you pay in-state rates for coursework at a big name, tier 1 national university.

I've heard its the second best school in the state of Alabama. Don't know much beyond that.

The Roll Tide commercials and Forrest Gump beg to differ.

I'll be the first to admit, that Roll Tide commercial is fantastic. "bet ya'll didn't know he was a virgin 'till he was 28 and now....roll tide."
And Forest Gump is a great movie and the character is a good representation of the academic ability of all of their students so it was fitting.

In all seriousness, they have some good looking programs, and with the in-state tuition deal you'd be hard pressed to find a school with more name recognition for the same or lower costs.

I'll be the first to admit that I don't know much about current affairs in the state of Alabama beyond good SEC football teams and great BBQ in the Montgomery area.

Really? Was that in quality of education or football? Historically, AUT's football team has been better (they tarnish that by claiming national championships they never really won, but that's another topic entirely), but we can look at the recent past, say the last decade, and clearly see Auburn is the dominate team.

I won't even begin to argue academics with you as everyone knows Auburn is a better school. Our admitted classes have a higher average GPA, higher ACT scores, we turn out more Rhodes Scholars. Basically we're superior to Bama in essentially everything.

Just to be proactive, I assume someone will mention that UAT is ranked one spot above us in the USNWR rankings, which is true. Take into account that alumni support is a factor of those rankings and that alumni giving always increases after winning a National Championship. Alabama jumped something like 17 spots last year and that put them 1 spot ahead of AU in the rankings. We just won our NC, alumni giving will undoubtly increase, and we'll be far ahead of you again when the new rankings are released.

Think about the original quote....next to last in a two-"person" race....

I looked on the UofA main website and did a brief google search and didn't find anything and PC battery about to go out. Would you mind posting a link or something to where you found this information? Their MBA program offerings look very enticing, especially the Operations Mgmt option. I just didn't see anything referencing an online option.

No updates to provide, but you're screaming Roll Tide an awful lot. Out of curiosity, what year did you graduate from UAT?
