The ad for this program came up on my facebook page: MA in Irish and Irish American Studies NYU > Ireland House > M.A. Program Annoucement Now this program looks awesome, but a few things: 1. it's not available via distance. 2. Even if it was, there is no way I would pay NYU tuition for a humanities degree. Does anyone know of similar programs at other schools? My preference would be for something RA, B&M presence, but I have a feeling with a subject like this beggars can't be choosers.
This is not online either but interesting - Master of Liberal Arts in Liberal Arts with a Concentration in Florida Studies - Graduate Programs @ University of South Florida.
There's a program in Welsh Studies at one of the U of W programs - maybe Lampeter. Beyond that I'd say it would be more common to find a generic "Ethnic Studies" program.
Drew University (NJ), also not available via DL, offers the M.Litt. and/or the D. Litt. with a concentration in Irish/Irish-American Studies; “Most classes meet in the late afternoon or early evening to accommodate the schedules of working professionals enrolled in the program.” Tuition @ $832 per CH. Program requires 9-courses (27 CH plus a Thesis); or the non-thesis option requires 2-additional courses. Arts & Letters Academic Program | Drew University
I think I could likely just go through HES and build the courses around Irish history and get a similar education to the NYU degree at a fraction of the costs. I just thought it looked like a cool program.
I missed this: In addition to the M.Litt, and D. Ditt. Degress, Drew also offers the MA and/or PhD with concentration in Irish History and Irish-American Studies. (Nonetheless, I know nothing about Drew University.). Areas of Study & Curriculum | Drew University
