Hey everyone ... so I applied to Indiana Tech for their PhD in Global Leadership and I'll be having my phone interview this Friday!

I'm excited ... and want to be sure I'm well prepared ...

    any hints, tips, everyday wisdom?

    Cheers

One thing they will be looking for is your having acknowledged what being the program will require of you and are committed to completing the program. Many go into Doctoral studies without a thorough reflection of what they are facing and an honest assessment of their capabilities and willingness to endure the rigors of the program.

    1) You want to know more about them than they know about you.
    2) Know the faculty.
    3) Know their research interests.
    4) Know their publications.
    5) Find the connections to your interests.
    6) Be smart.

Assuming this is a real doctoral program, you'll be assessed on your ability to propose and to complete the dissertation (not just on whether you have tuition assistance from an employer). Also, you should be able to give an answer for why you want to earn a doctorate, which is "I want to do research, publish, and teach at the University-level."

I would like to thank everyone for their input here as well. I also have an interview coming up with Indiana Tech as well for the Global Leadership program. I have officially withdrawn from NCU effective 2/1... I am not sure about whether or not I will go with Indiana Tech but I do like what I read about them and they have been very receptive in communicating and responding to many questions that I have as well. Good luck to you Hammergirl!!! Keep us posted!

Well a little update ... the interview seemed to go well ... I heard a lot more about the program and the philosophy and structure behind it and was duly impressed. Attrition rate to date is 13% (program is 2 yrs old) and admission rate is 60%. They are also have a "vigilant focus" on ensuring the quality of and value of the degree through the quality of students. I feel pretty good about it and best of all - I'll hear Monday if I've been accepted!!

Hammergirl, are you now enrolled in the program? How is it? Have you attended any of the immersion or weekend residency program? How is the group in attendance----racial diversity, age and gender distribution, etc.
