As many of you know, some of the doctoral programs in S. Africa require submission of an article to accredited peer-reviewed journals. Such was the requirement for my PhD in Church History at the Univ. of Pretoria.

Well, earlier this week I learned that my article on F.F. Bosworth, the topic of my dissertation, has been officially accepted for publication in a peer-reviewed journal. The article summarizes my research and findings. Here's what the editor wrote in an email:

We have reached a decision regarding your submission to Verbum et Ecclesia,
'F.F. Bosworth: A Historical Analysis of His Ministry Development Using
    Social Cognitive Career Theory'.

Our decision is that your article is accepted and will go through to the
editing process. You will be contacted to assist the Verbum team later in
this regard. Thanks for your submission and contribution.

A few months ago, the editor sent me this comment from one of the reviewers:

"The article shows a clear grasp of research methodology. The research is well-presented and the use of SCCT as a research paradigm for reading church history is an exciting development."

Needless to say, I am happy!

Interesting. I have never considered using SCCT for doing research on someone's past life. What journal will it be in? Will it be available on Ebsco, or any other database? Congrats!

I found your dissertation introduction online. Is there a place to read the entire thing?

Thanks to all of you for your support and encouragement. I am really grateful that I discovered DegreeInfo a few years back.

The thread that really got me on the right track with understanding research and doctorates was the one about research books. I read most of the books that were recommended and studied them cover-to-cover for two or three years. The reading enabled me to write up a good proposal that was immediately accepted.

    Thanks, Shawn!

Glad to see you got your article written, and submitted. Hope you get some good news real soon.

I also believe book publishers would be interested in your topic. You've written something that should generate a lot of interest and discussion.

Sounds like we need to sticky that. Congratulations! Time for me to get on the ball converting that ol' dissertation to a journal article.

What wonderful news! Many congratulations! There is nothing quite like seeing your article in a journal and knowing that it passed the peer review process (when so many do not) and that others will be able to see your work.

Now comes the big question: What will be the topic of your next article? :)
