I have some questions, I have seen some cases of people talking Distance learning degrees and then going to another country or another state and it is not recognized there.

I am really considering my MBA, i am Canadian, however working in Kuwait & planning to go back in a year or two. I want to have my MBA done by then. I searched online for different a good DL MBA. I guess I found three to choose from.

    1:- Athabasca University ( Canada )
    2:- University of Leicester ( UK )
    3:- Capella University ( US )

The three universities are accredited from their governments and from other accreditation bodies.

    Now the questions :-
1:- If I took the degree from the UK or the US will it be recognized in Canada?, does that affect job recruitment or transfer of credits or if I need to continue my PHD in Canada ?

2:- Does it really make a difference that capella university doesn't have a real campus? I found some reviews online that states that universities that are strictly DL don't get better job opportunities or are recognized better than other universities.

3:- Last Q, which one to go for ?

I am attracted more towards capella since I saw a lot of positive reviews on the university, but the only thing that is worrying me is when I go back to Canada I get this " Oh your MBA is no use to us "

Someone else recommended Leicester university to me since it is "cheaper & recognized" however I am not sure about their quality. I have to look into it.

Athabasca:- recognized DL in Canada ( so it will save me from being worried ) however so some awfull reviews about the university.

    So help ? lol thanks.

    .

    Thanks,
    Gabrile Hemmat.

    Yes to all----I would go with #1 or #2. #3 is a for-profit.

Any commonwealth country will recognize a degree from the UK. There are a large number of Canadians in the Heriot-Watt MBA program. Any US RA degree will be recognized in Canada.

As for transfer of credits, it is up the university that you plan to do your PhD the amount of credits they are going to accept, regardless where they were accredited.

Well those three seem to be recognized from their governments and 100 % online ( not sure about Leicester )

I checked the link, seems that a lot of people have put their own vote to the best MBA.
I am still lost I don't know which school to enroll too.

Money is an issue. I am up for 40,000 $ above or below a little.
1:- Accreditation is the most important.
2:- Time ( that it would take about 2 years ) & that it would start right away.
    3:- Good reputation

    Anyone with any recommendations ?

    Thanks guys for your replies.

Try Imperial College London Distance MBA. It is consistently ranked as one of the top ten Universities in the world. And their regular MBA was ranked 34th last year by Financial Times. I believe the MBA costs less than $40,000. Good value for money just on the reputation alone. Hope this helps.

I'm finishing my MBA through the Georgia WebMBA program this semester. I highly recommend it if you're looking for an AACSB accredited program offered through real universities. The whole program is 18 months long (2 courses/semester for 5 semesters) and you're diploma comes from one of the universities associated with the program (mine is Kennesaw State University, the others are Columbus State University, Georgia College & State University, Georgia Southern University, University of West Georgia, and Valdosta State University).

You wouldn't have to worry about accreditation since these are state universities within the University System of Georgia and the program is AACSB certified. The courses would almost certainly be recognized for credit when considering a Ph.D. or DBA.
