I emailed my academic advisor and expressed my disappointment with the new name and this is part of the response -

"I just wanted to reassure you that if you are going to be graduating within this year, you will be able to have the option of keeping the old TUI name and logo on your diploma rather than having the new one posted on it instead...."

So, what name would you pick? On my resume I would list it as follows since I complete my MS-ITM from Touro University International (non-profit before the sale when they were connected to Touro College). I am leaning towards TUI since I would feel comfortable listing it like this.
MS-ITM / MBA in Marketing – Touro University International

    rather then this

MBA in Marketing – Trident University International
    MS-ITM – Touro University International

Of course, on a CV I would spell out each one separately regardless of the choice:

Master of Business Administration - TUI University, 2011
    Concentration: Marketing

Master of Science - Touro University International, 2004
    Concentration: Information Technology Management

What do you think? Which one would you pick? Why?

    Dr. Randell,

I think you should use Touro University International instead of TUI. TUI University does not sound professional at all. Frankly for me, the term "College" and "University" should be in front or after the name unless specific location. For example, University of Southern California, Georgetown University, or University of California at Irvine.

    Dear Randell,

I know our new name sucks. Indeed, so did our old name. However, you are one of the lucky ones who has the option to choose which one you think sucks less.

    Sincerely,
TUI University/Trident University International (whichever one you prefer)

I have absolutely no knowledge of the school or context. However, isn't TUI University redundant? Touro University International University? I think I'm out on that one.

    Just my 2 cents.

I'd go with the new name. Trident sounds silly, but TUI University doesn't make any sense.

Also, is it really ethical to list a TUIU or Trident degree as Touro University International?

The first degree was earned when it was still Touro, but the MBA? It seems deceptive, honestly.

John: Well, here at FMC Corporation (that would be Food Machinery Corporation Corporation), we think about these things while waiting in line at the ATM machine (that would be the automatic teller machine machine).

If i'm not mistaken, you have the most number of degrees from internet-only schools. While I'm not insinuating that the knowledge you gained from the programs are worthless, you can save yourself the hassle, and improve the image of your CV by not listing all those degrees, depending on the position that you are applying for. List your NCU PhD, and then maybe just your MS in IT Management using Touro, only. Showing off too many degrees from internet-only schools could raise more issues and questions than help you.

I do understand your point. I was just looking at it from from a "clean" point of view. Listing
MBA in Marketing – Trident University International
    MS-ITM – Touro University International

makes it look like I love schools with the initials TUI!

No, I do see your point. I would only list the MBA if applying for a position that requires a marketing background. I would not even list my PhD if I was applying for a non-academic job. For non-academic/non marketing related jobs I would probably list it as:

    Education
    •MS-ITM – Touro University International
•Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Risk Management – University of Florida
•BS in Technology – Charter Oak State College

    Continuing Education
•HTML Programming Fundamentals - University of South Florida
•Lean Six Sigma – University of South Florida

TUI University or Trident University International?

Guess I'm not old enough to swim in the big kids pool yet.....(wouldn't allow me to "vote.")

TUI University, as a name, almost kept me from enrolling. The "University" is redundant, in my opinion. And TUI? Well that's just sounds silly. I was calling it Touro University International and leaving it at that, but that really wasn't the name.

Between TUI University and Trident University International, I prefer Trident University International. To me it has a strong sound and much better than "Tooweey."

Just for clarification, the "TUI" in TUI University were not initials, it was the latin word for "your" as in Your University. Still not the smartest name but it is not Touro University International International. I think I will go with Trident because TUI is just not a name and listing it as MS/MBA Touro University International is not accurate. Why are they so hung up on TUI anyway? It is not like the name really means anything to anyone. I can see if it was Princeton and they want to preserve the name but come on - who knows TUI?

I vote for TUI. Trident is no improvement, so why go to the trouble of changing your name?

It is not really a name change. Touro University International is my MS-ITM. Right now I have the choice for Trident or TUI.

Yes, we are saying the same thing, I think. TUI is no worse of a name and it's what we are used to. I actually think that Trident might sound less impressive than TUI.

However, whatever you put on you resume Raneell, you are so well-educated and experienced that you could probably put MUST University and still get most any job.

    How about if I put:
MBA from "a school with such a stupid name I am embarrassed to list it but it is an RA school" – 2011

I still think Trident isn't a great name, but is still better than a name like PTUI.

For the job I start tomorrow, all I had to do was scan a copy of my Excelsior diploma and email it there. They didn't even bother to confirm that Excelsior exists.
