I don't know where I get these ideas for courses I would like to take, paleontology, sociology, anthropology, then Shakespeare and now Old English/Anglo-Saxon language, but let me just explain: If you were a trial attorney in the inner-city courts of a major city for 30 years, you might end up trying to take an underwater watercolor class or a class in 1950s marble-playing games, or some bizarre endeavor So branching out like this is my way of relaxing, learning new things, but not just on the Internet. Am trying to get info on some of these online/distance education courses. But, again, any help is appreciated, while I am still conducting my own Internet searches. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. This is a great forum. I can't believe the extent of the info here and the helpfulness of the members.
I understand where you are coming from! If you are just looking for a learning experience, and don't need credit, I would suggest that you download Itunes and look up Itunes U. Plenty of free college lectures. Right now, I'm into a course on Game Theory. Facinating, useful, thought exercises. As for old english, there is only one option that I am aware of, available at a corner store near you:
University of Oxford, Department for Continuing Education, Non-EU Fee: £285.00 Ancestral Voices: the Earliest English Literature (Online) There is also a similar course on Shakespeare: Shakespeare (Online)
Turns out that that school wants it taken for credit..I would rather not. Am still looking around on the Internet for that and other courses. There is so much out there-------..I appreciate all the responses so far, thank you.....
