I have an associates in automotive technology as well as an associates in accounting. They would like to promote me from middle management to upper management but the formality is that I must have a bachelors. What would be the best degree program and school to attend to utilize both degrees and complete the bachelors in a timely manner.

    Hi mastertechs,

Welcome to Degree Info. I hope you enjoy your time on the board and I expect that you will find a good deal of quality advice. I recommend that you look into an accounting degree from Excelsior College. It is one of the lowest priced, yet fully regionally accredited, degrees you can get. (Regional accreditation is the gold standard) Another great feature of Excelsior is the fact that they will accept a good number of CLEP tests. You can use these CLEP tests to test out of some of your classes to receive full college credit without taking the course. I regularly recommend this school because I believe it's one of the best deals out there in a fully RA school. Here's a link to their program listing:http://www.excelsior.edu/ecapps/degreeProgram/degreeTable.jsf?gw=1

An even cheaper option would be Aspen University. Aspen is a very good quality school that will provide you with a fine education, yet the price will be much lower. However, they are not RA, they are accredited by the DETC, which is a legitimate accrediting organization that is recognized by Dept. of Education. A DETC degree from Aspen would most likely fit your purposes because it would be honored by most employers outside of academia. If you wanted to teach at a university, a DETC degree would not work. But in most other situations, a degree from Aspen would work perfectly. www.aspen.edu

Rather than trying to finish an accounting bachelors, I would be inclined to think a business administration degree might be the quickest way to go that would utilize both degrees.

The devil's in the details though. A lot would depend on the specific courses you completed, and the school/department you are trying to get your bachelors from. I would give Excelsior a call and see what your options are with both options.

Nice post, D.Surf, I just want to make the minor correction that the name of the school is Excelsior College, not University. Here is a link to their business schools catalog: http://www.excelsior.edu/c/document_library/get_file?uuid=5d1bee01-e0db-4c70-b0fd-282f4e15e2d8&groupId=78666 and their credit-by-exam catalog: http://www.excelsior.edu/c/document_library/get_file?uuid=969eaa1d-b672-4eaf-8576-f3afcce7119e&groupId=78666.

There are lots of other schools that can fit your needs, but Excelsior's flexibility makes them perfect for many people who just need to "get it over with" and finish a degree.

Excelsior is very flexible. Any bachelor's with them will require a minimum number of upper-level credits, and as the associate's degree is nearly always lower-level, either major will require some additional upper-level work. The quickest way to do that is by exam, and the business degree best supported by exams is General Business. Depending on how the OP's existing credit fits, another option that comes to mind is a concentration in Operations Management, where the upper-level concentration courses could be filled by self-paced courses via CSU. Probably not as quick as exams, but topics such as QA and Purchasing may draw on existing knowledge, which is always valuable.

Also check out Excelsior's Bachelor of Professional Studies, a new flexible degree option.

Another good option is the University of Wyoming Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. You can finish off half of your remaining credits by exam and half of them by courses with them. With their super cheap tuition ($139/credit, including fees) and the American Opportunity Tax Credit, you'd be paying next to nothing for your degree.

Good info. Operations management might fit very well with the OP's automotive and accounting degrees.
