    Is there any such degree?

    Yes.

Example - Georgetown has a Doctor of Liberal Studies.

Is that close enough to a Doctor of Liberal Arts?

    Is this a DL degree?

No. The DLS at Georgetown is strictly residential.

Salve Regina has a cohort program that might be of interest.

A plus of this program, residencies in Newport would be something to look forward to. Amazing little town.

Anyone know of any foreign humanities or liberal arts doctorates, in South Africa, Australia, UK?

Georgetown University's Doctor of Liberal Arts is not easy to get in. The acceptance rate is less than 10%, most of the selected candidates have years in experience and high profile. Such as LtGen in the Marine Corps, somebody has a Ph.D, a Director student services at Georgetown, and etc.

I wouldn't be able to go there anyway since it's not DL.

Thanks emmzee. I'll check out UNISA.

Edit: Just checked the link, but these are doctorates in individual subjects, which is not what I'm looking for.

Isn't a Doctorate supposed to be highly specialized? This seems absolutely worthless.
