I am interested in pursuing a PhD degree in communications/media/journalism studies (focus on new media/web communications) in any affordable European university where I can do it through distance learning or by research. I have a master's degree in journalism and mass communication from an American university and would like to pursue the PhD without having to quit my job or relocating. I am not a citizen of any of the EU countries and I don't have money to pay the high tuition fees charged by most universities that may have the opportunity that I am seeking. Please advise me on any opportunities or options that might work for me. Many thanks for your assistance.

I speak Arabic too. Is Regent University's communication's PhD program reputable internationally?

I can't speak for Regent University's international reputation; however, Regent University is regional accredited school. That is the gold standard in the United States, and being recognized by other countries as well. Regent University, Duke University, Emory University are accredited by the same body. So, it doesn't matter for international because people don't really know anyway. If you ask somebody in Romania if there is any differences between a degree from Regent University and Emory University. I am sure most of the time, he or she has no idea or has never heard of these schools.

Regent's program looks good but the cost, at more than US$40,000, is more than I can afford. Any ideas on programs with lower tuition fees?

Texas Tech University offers Ph.D in in Technical Communication and Rhetoric. I don't know how much for International Student, but it worth to check it out.

So you already know that most or all distance PhD’s are freaking expensive. What country are you in? Why don't you do a degree where you live? Why America?

I believe that Central Queensland University has research doctoral programs in both Journalism and Communications.

    Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone has come across any other (non-religious) RA distance PhD programs in Media/Communications since this thread was active a few years ago?

    Thanks in advance!
